It’s the
4th birthday of [DAF]! It’s January 2005 and Jeffrey (Psycho-Shimmy) and
Maarten (XplosiV) started to play Wolfenstein
- Enemy Territory. Vinnie was already playing the game for about 2 months. At
the first day we started to play, Maarten, Vincent and Jeffrey said: "Hey,
let's create a clan!" We all said: "Ok, cool." There was one
problem; Clanname. Dutch Army Fighters sounds cool, because we are all Dutch and we
are real fighters. (Who are playing the game for just 1 day)
[DAF]Maarten, [DAF]Shimmy and [DAF]Vinnie. The [DAF]
tags were orange and our names were in Red-White-Blue, the Dutch national
colors.
At our
first day Maarten and Jeffrey were playing in an empty server. The map was
Battery. It was 1on1. Suddenly someone was connecting with the name ''CJV''. We
asked him if it was his first time he was playing the game, because his name
was all white. Yes, it was in the period he just started to play Enemy
Territory. Maarten and Jeffrey asked him if he wants to join [DAF], because we
really needed members. He said: "Yes." At the end of our first day,
we had 4 members (3 Dutch players and 1 English player).
We were
recruiting a lot of players in that time, but there was one problem; Our clanname. At that moment CJV
said: “Hey, isn't it better to change the clanname? Because the name is Dutch Army Fighters and only
the founders are Dutch?” We all said: “Ok, it's better to change it. But to
what?” After a long time we decided, after CJVs idea, that ''Deadly Armed
Fighters'' was better, because we can keep the tags and the clanname
sounds like an European clan!
More and
more players joined the clan and [DAF] was starting to become a really good and
strong clan. We had really good times with the members. We played matches (also
known as trainings) with each other in empty servers. We all had a really good
time in a server, hosted by -(TSS)-. Everybody loved
[DAF] and we were like heroes to all players in the server. But then something
happened: -(TSS)- died and their server too.
Neo, a
player with great server modification skills who already left the clan earlier,
had a great clan named !US*. They had a server, hosted
in the United States. It was a really cool server and we played a lot there.
But there was one problem: Lag. !US* died in Minas Tirith and they later changed to –SoC-.
That clan wasn’t really popular, comparing to !US*.
We played a
long time in a lot of random servers. We were looking for a server that was
almost the same as -(TSS)-, but it was really hard to
find one. Then Shimmy found a really good server. The server was called: <gTc> XPSAVE 100H!!!. The server
had a real cool ETpub-mod and it was a great
fun-server. <gTc>-server
started to grow and more and more really good players came to the server. The
server was really good to train your aim and skills. This is the server where
we met +LKD+. +LKD+ was a ‘skilled’ clan full of whiners and cheaters. We guess
that +LKD+ was the most hated clan in the server.
We
recruited a lot of members in the <gTc>-server.
But suddenly something happened again. <gTc> was dying and the server changed to
<-ABD->. The server was always empty, thanks to the change of clanname.
We played a
long time without a server, because we couldn't find a good one. Then some
members decided that we needed our own server. Almost all Dutch members started
to donate for a server and it was enough for a 14 slots server, hosted by
I3D.nl. First it was Jaymod, later ETpub and after all ETpro. When
the server was Jaymod we had a lot of noobs/beginners players at our server. We really had to
change it to ETpub. When we changed to ETpub, we had a lot of fun and recruited a lot of members.
The server later changed to ETpro, because ETpub was lagging too and a lot of players decided to play ETpro and more matches. The server was online for more than
a year. Later [DAF] wasn’t able to pay for it anymore and that’s why we decided
to change host and change to a 12 slots private server. This change happened in
February 2008.
We also played
in a cup called The Sunday Cup. This was a cup, made by Bravewulf.
The following clans applied to play in this cup: =TDS=, [NMA*], |LNA|, |LAC|, -=([A])=-, #[Imp4ct], -=''|P|''=- and [DAF]. In the first
round we had to play versus #[Imp4ct]. This was a
complete mess, because #[Imp4ct] wasn’t playing fair.
We lost because #[Imp4ct] was abusing rules. After a
long time of fighting #[Imp4ct] and the admin decided
that [DAF] was allowed to go to the next round. In the second round we had to
play versus -=([A])=-. This was a really good war. We
had a lot of fun and it was exciting until the end of the map. We won, but it
was really close. In the finals we had to play versus |LNA|. We won the finals
and we won the Sunday Cup!
2007 was
the year we merged with |LNA|. We did this to have two servers (Their server
and our server) and our own .com-website. Mentor later said that he wants to
get out of the ET-scene and he disbanded the server. G3cko continued with the
website, but we never received our second server. Some |LNA|-members joined our
clan. G3cko later left the clan, after a lot of discussions/fights with the clan.
He continued with the website for a long time, but he quit paying for it in
October, 2008.
Now, in 2009. We are still alive. After a lot of problems, changes and fights we are
going to become stronger than ever again. We are a real ETpro/league/war
clan and we are ready to recruit new players to kickass! [DAF] is alive and
will never die. Long live [DAF].
